Students have to use their best science, technology, engineering and math to accomplish the lunar mission.
Students must figure out how to get back to the moon by making connections to the history of rocketry, current rockets that are used to get to space and the new Space Launch System rocket that NASA is currently working on.
They make the proper connections to heat shield design that is critical for entering the Earth’s atmosphere after a journey to the moon.
Students conduct research on various aspects of what would be needed for a livable habitat for an astronaut crew of 6 for two years. This includes water systems, life support systems, communication, transportation, radiation, agriculture, physical activity, living quarters, etc.
